This is a partnership between parents and staff who are dedicated to providing educational and social opportunities for our students. You, the RVE families, are the foundation for what the PTP is able to accomplish.

NEWS & COMMUNICATION

School Drop Off / Pick Up

The student hours are 7:40 A.M. – 2:10 P.M. 
Students should arrive each morning between 7:25 A.M. - 7:35 A.M. so they can make it into their classrooms before the second bell rings at 7:40. 

Please do not drop students prior to 7:25 A.M. or pick them up any later than 2:15 P.M. unless you’ve registered for Kid Connection. 

Our school staff members have several meetings before and after school, so there’s no supervision outside of these times. Your child’s safety is our highest priority

Kindergarten Only

Kindergarten students will have a staggered start for the first two days of school. This will give students and teachers more time to make a personal connection. This consists of half of the students attending school on September 6th and the other half attending school on September 7th. After you receive your child’s teacher you will be given a link to sign up for the day you would like for your child to attend “their first day of kindergarten.”

Snack Cart

If you are interested in your child (grades 1-5) participating in the snack cart please use this link after August 15th to sign up for a trimester or for the entire year https://farmington-k12.revtrak.net/  

Snack cart for the year is $68.00 or if you choose to sign up per trimester it is $23.00. 

 Kindergarten students receive free breakfast every day and use that for their snack also. 

 If you choose to send a snack with your child each day please make sure it is a healthy snack.

Lunch & Breakfast Program

Our lunch program consists of a pre-pay account system. Each student is assigned a PIN number. This account is accessed each day as students go through the lunch or breakfast line. Students are encouraged to carry a positive balance at all times. You will be notified by the Food Service Department of low or negative balances. 
  • Elementary lunches are $2.80 and guest lunches are $4.00.
  • Elementary breakfast is available each school day from 7:25-7:40 AM, at a cost of $1.50.

An application form is also available here and (en español) and may be submitted by mail, email, or fax. Paper applications are also available in your school office. 

 If you have questions about Free and Reduced-Price meals (Educational Benefits) or need assistance, please call us at 651-460-3823. If you send in an Educational Benefits Application and do not receive a notification letter within two weeks, please call us at the number above to ensure that we have processed your application. 
 If your family is experiencing financial set-backs from COVID or otherwise and you’d like to explore other potential supports or resources available to you, please contact our Riverview Family Support Worker, Morgann McCarthy Ms. McCarthy can be reached at momccarthy@farmington.k12.mn.us or 651-460-1629. She returns to the office on Monday, August 29th.

School Pictures

School pictures will be taken by Jostens during Assessments (August 25th and 30th) from 8-2:00 P.M. in the Multipurpose Room. Retakes are September 29th during the school day. There will be no scheduled times, please arrive anytime from 8:00-2:00 P.M. that day. If your assessment time is before 8:00 or after 2:00 please plan on getting your pictures taken between the times allocated for pictures.

Assessment Days

Please join us for assessments on Thursday, August 25th or Tuesday, August 30th at Riverview Elementary. Families should plan to spend approximately 20-30 minutes with their classroom teacher. Students will get to know their classroom teachers, find their lockers and desks, and complete a brief assessment. Families can also bring their school supplies and ask any questions they have about the upcoming school year that day. 

You will use the PTCFast link to sign up for a time to meet with your child’s teacher. The link will open on August 15th. It will be on our website and Facebook page. I will also eblast it out to all families on August 15th.

iPad Information

If your child did not keep his/her iPad over the summer, please plan time to check out your child’s iPad on August 25th or August 30th. The library will be staffed between the hours of 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Parents must accompany their student when they pick up the iPad. The loan agreement will need to be completed before you can check out an iPad. 

Please go to the Farmington website and complete the iPad Loan Agreement and iPad Protection Plan prior to Aug. 25th/Aug. 30th in order to check out your child’s iPad. It’s located on the Family Tab on our website. 

FYI…If you are unable to attend Assessment Days, we will be checking out iPads during the first two weeks of school.

Class Placement

Class placement is viewable in Campus Portal. Please make sure you have already set that up so you have access. If you have not created a Campus Portal account, please do so before August 15th by using the following instructions: campus_portal_instructions_for_parents.pdf (sharpschool.com) 

If you have children at more than one school, only one account needs to be set up for accessing all students in the family. Families with multiple children in any Farmington School will look for a dropdown at the top right area of Campus Portal- that is where you switch between students. Again, this is how you will find out who your child’s teacher is in August. 

A great deal of time and effort has been utilized in creating balanced classroom rosters, with many factors being considered. Finally, changes to class lists are difficult for both office and instructional staff. For those reasons, I ask that parents do not request changes to classroom placement.
